Jamaican Sorrel Drink is a traditional Caribbean beverage made from dried sorrel petals. This vegan version retains all the flavors and richness of the classic recipe without the use of animal products.
Ingredients:
- 6 cups water
- 2 cups dried sorrel petals
- 1 cup granulated sugar or sweetener of choice
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 10 whole cloves
- 1 orange peel
- 1-inch piece of ginger, sliced
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice
- 1/4 cup lime juice
Instructions:
In a large pot, bring water to a boil
Add sorrel petals, sugar, cinnamon stick, cloves, orange peel, and ginger to the boiling water
Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally
Remove from heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature
Once cooled, strain the liquid into a pitcher
Stir in pineapple juice and lime juice
Refrigerate until chilled
Serve over ice and enjoy
