Enjoy this rich Mocha Creme Caramel as the perfect holiday dessert. The rich caramelized sugar and coffee-infused custard make a delicious flavor combination that your guests will love. For any special event, this dessert is perfect because it is both elegant and tasty.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar for custard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream and chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions:

Start by heating the oven up to 325F 160C

Put 1 cup of granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons of water in a saucepan and mix them together

Melt the sugar over medium-high heat

The sugar will turn a deep amber color as it caramelizes

For each of the six ramekins, pour some caramel into the bottom and swirl it around to cover the bottom

Let it cool down and get hard

Put the heavy cream, whole milk, and brewed coffee in a different saucepan and heat them over medium-low heat

Mix it around until it gets hot but not boiling

Take it off the heat and let it cool down a bit

Put the eggs, salt, instant espresso powder, and vanilla extract in a bowl and whisk them together with a whisk

Slowly pour the warm cream mixture with coffee into the egg mixture while whisking all the time

Move the custard mix through a fine-mesh sieve and into a bowl or pitcher

Spread the custard mixture out evenly in the ramekins that have been covered in caramel

Put the ramekins in a big baking dish

Fill the dish with hot water until it comes up about halfway up the sides of the ramekins

Place the baking dish carefully in a preheated oven and cover it with aluminum foil

Put the custards in the oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until they are set but still have a little give in the middle

Take the ramekins out of the water and let them cool down until they are room temperature

Then, put it in the fridge for at least four hours or overnight to set and chill

To serve, loosen the custard by running a knife around the edges of the ramekins

To get the caramel and custard out, flip each ramekin upside down onto a serving plate

Add a dollop of whipped cream and chocolate shavings on top to finish

Have fun with your tasty Mocha Creme Caramel
